The Institute for the Intellectual Development
Of Children and Young Adults (Kanoon)
is a governmental organization, established in 1966. It is a center dedicated to the advancement of children’s creativity & art education, also it provides and encourages quality productions of all types of books and literary/artistic works for children & young adults during their leisure time.

Objectives
í Developing & enhancing artistic talents, creativity & potential abilities of children & young adults in line with the principles of Islamic educational system.
í Promoting cultural cooperation by implementing various programs in the field of culture, book development, film & theater (such as organizing & sponsoring different children book exhibitions, workshops, contests, seminars, art competitions, films, animation & theater festivals).

Activities
· Establishing centers throughout the country for promotion of book reading and cultural & artistic training There are 650 centers all over the country).

Supporting the development of literature & literary works for children & young adults through applied studies and educational plans.
Discovering ways for better distribution of books for children in rural, remote & slum areas through mobile & postal libraries.

Kanoon’s activities are the accordant result of the following departments;

1- Research Division

Introducing some concrete opportunities by undertaking new projects and creating an exchange network in order to increase the number of local development initiatives throughout the world by:
Promoting a specific policy in producing books, magazines, creative/educational toys, projection of films, theaters and puppet theaters
Developing a database on the latest research from the local and international resources and Establishment of a proficient research/reference library for the use of instructors experts & educators

2- Production Division

Preparing, designing producing and editing reading materials, illustrations of children’s book, films, film strips, tapes, posters, creative/educational toys, and all the requirements needed for flourishing children’s mind and creativity
Cooperating and offering conformable assistance to other centers abroad which have similar goals as Kanoon

3- Center for Artistic Creations

Instructing and presenting innovations and activities such as; book reading, story telling, play performing, film projecting, painting, pottery, songs & music, handiworks and some appealing non-formal educational schemes, through Kanoon’s 400 cultural/art centers
Providing & performing cultural programs to meet local needs for rural and remote parts of country through Kanoon’s postal & mobile libraries

4- ILI (Iran Language Institute)
Teaching & promoting the most popular foreign languages (English, French, Germany, Arabic and Farsi), using new and efficient educational system
Enabling the students to share common values of culture, Knowledge and mutual understanding through these languages
